The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) has decided to introduce boys volleyball and girls field hockey as new sports starting in the 2025-26 school year. This marks the first addition of new sports since the inclusion of boys and girls lacrosse in 2004-05. Boys volleyball is set to be a spring sport, while girls field hockey will be played in the fall. The upcoming school year will serve as a developmental period as the MHSAA collaborates with current sports governing bodies to facilitate these changes.
